Google Classroom Codes:
- Some students have still not submitted their Media and Body Image assignment. This was due before the break. Students have until next Friday, April 19, to submit this. They should also check the Google Classroom for a change to instructions for those who are late submitting.
- Students must have their Body Image and Media assignments submitted by next Friday, March 01. We have begun our in class discussions for this. Any student who is absent next week and does not discuss their advertisement with the class will have to submit a written paragraph (details on the assignment in the Google Classroom).
- Athena's Story questions are due next Friday, March 01. Students have had a considerable amount of in class time to finish these.
- Any student whose Teach the Teacher activity is sports related should be prepared to teach the task next Monday, January 15.
- Today was the final day to work on Teach the Teacher presentations. This self-awareness project must be submitted and presented next Friday, November 24.
SOCIAL STUDIES 7
- All propaganda poster analysis worksheets should now be submitted.
- Students must have their propaganda posters completed and handed in at the start of class on Monday, April 29. They have had lots of in class time for completion. They have been provided with a rubric to assist in the design.
- Journal Entries (Reflection on policies of assimilation) are due this Friday, Feb 20 (only 8 have been submitted)
- Department of Indian Affairs questions are due on Friday, Feb 20, as well. This was an in-class activity.
- Please see the notice in our google classroom regarding the upcoming change to our units. We will be pausing Residential Schools and focusing on Canada in WW1 to accommodate for the National Historic Site Association's Ambassador Program.
- Midterm Review Project groups who did not have their materials today, you are presenting on Monday, January 15.
- Students with missing work were given a note last week letting them know what they needed to submit. Anyone with missing activities was given until today, January 12, to pass that work in. If students have not submitted items I will follow up with their families after midterms. All projects are posted under their corresponding unit on our Google Classroom.
- Students who requested an extension, your poster was due today, Friday, January 12.
- Posters are due tomorrow, January 09. Today, January 08, is the final day to work on them in class. Students may use any size paper they wish. All guidelines are in our Google Classroom.
- January 03. Happy New Year! As our Grade 7 students are new to midterms, in today's class we focused on study strategies and a study plan. As explained during Curriculum Night, there is a combined ELA/SS midterm. Students are already graded on specific Social Studies concepts, so the focus on the midterm is really to see if they can apply their general understanding of what we have covered. They will not be expected to memorize details or events, those have already been covered thoroughly in the unit activities and projects.
- This week student's have been working on a timeline assignment. It is due on Monday. Students who were sick or absent have been provided an extension. We have gone over the assignment in detail in class, I've provided a paper copy and digital copy of the assignment.
- Nov 30 Work update! Students are completing an assignment on groups who made change from 1850-1890. They are researching (using only their textbooks) and designing a stamp. They have 2 more classes (3 total) to complete this work. Any student who has not completed the work by the end of Monday's class will be expected to do so for homework. The assignment is due on Tuesday, December 05.
- We are continuing work on our Life in Canada: 1850-1890 project. If it is not completed in Monday's class, then it will be homework as students have been provided with 4 classes to finish this work. Presentations will begin on Monday, November 06 (instead of the original date of October 30).
- A Growing Nation Textbook Review was due yesterday (Monday, Oct. 23). Many still have not submitted.
- A Growing Nation: Chapter 8 Textbook Review Activity, Due Monday, Oct. 23
- LATE EMPOWERMENT POSTERS! FINAL CALL! For those who required an extension, or are resubmitting, you have until Friday to submit your empowerment posters.
- Personal Empowerment Poster due Friday.
- Due to the Fall Fair our quiz is moved to Tuesday, October 17.
- QUIZ! Our first Unit Quiz is tentatively set for Friday, October 13. Students will be given ample time to review and study in class prior to the quiz. The quiz includes 10 multiple choice, 2 short answers (constructed responses), and 1 long answer (personal response/essay).
- Introductory assignment, "Know your Provinces" is due by Monday, September 18. We have been working on this in class all week.
